Kenneth Lubetsky, MS

Director of Operations

Ken Lubetsky, MS taught at the elementary school level in New York City for 20 years, where he was selected by his Community School District as a “Teacher-of-the-Year.” He then joined the full-time staff of New York City’s United Federation of Teachers, where he chaired the union’s School-Based Budgeting Advisory Committee, and was director of its Department of Pedagogic Personnel. Among his responsibilities, Mr. Lubetsky was liaison to the New York City Department of Education’s Divisions of Budget Operations, Human Resources, and Financial Operations. He also coordinated the Teacher’s Choice supply program and administered the school system’s School-Based Option provisions that empowered schools to modify an array of contractual provisions.

Mr. Lubetsky has a particular interest in the areas of school finance, transparent budgeting, school system personnel practices, and the education of school-dependent children. He served as a member of the New York State United Teachers Ad Hoc Task Force on School Finance and was also a charter member of the New York State Title 1 Committee of Practitioners. Mr. Lubetsky was a frequent presenter on school finance and budget issues before school board members, teacher groups, and parent organizations.

Mr. Lubetsky has a BA and MS in Elementary Education, and is an “ABD” in Urban Education at Fordham University. He’s a member of the American Education Finance Association (AEFA) and the Association of Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD). He completed the Institute for Educational Leadership’s one-year leadership development program, the Education Policy Fellowship Program (EPFP).
