Margaret Strauss has been in education since 1966. She has worked as an elementary school classroom teacher, school librarian, visual literacy teacher, reading teacher, professional development provider, facilitator for school-based management and regional coach for Reading First schools in New York City. She is presently working as a mentor for the National Urban Alliance. While working as a professional developer with the New York City Teacher Centers, Ms. Strauss has had the opportunity to work closely with educators facilitating study groups and teacher networks. One of her primary goals has been to assist teachers in becoming both experts and learners so that students obtain a quality education.
Ms. Strauss has worked as an adjunct professor with both the City University of New York and Fordham University. She has taught courses in reading and human relations. Additionally, she has presented at local, state and national conferences on topics including: literacy, differentiated instruction, cooperative learning, building collaborative schools and inventing for young inventors.
Ms. Strauss is certified and licensed as an elementary school teacher, a library media specialist, a reading teacher and a special education teacher. She has a BA in education/psychology, MA in education, M.L.S. in library science, and 30 credits towards a Ph.D. in communications in education.
