Michelle Thompson, M.A. has been passionately educating children and adults since 1987. She has taught a diverse population of students from kindergarten through eighth grade. As a professional learning consultant she travels throughout the United States sharing her enthusiasm for teaching with educators, administrators, universities, and community organizations. Her classroom was showcased on the local news channel in Atlanta, Georgia when former Secretary of Education Margaret Spellings visited her class to “chat” with her ELL students.
Ms. Thompson strongly believes that all children can learn. By first recognizing students’ strengths, building on it, and using that strength to scaffold instruction, all students will succeed. In her current position as an Itinerant Teacher Support Specialist, she mentors teachers who have chosen the alternate certification in teaching.
Ms. Thompson holds a masters in Special Education from CUNY-Queens College. She is also certified in Education Administration from Kennesaw State University in Kennesaw GA. She is currently a member of the National Staff Development Council and the Association of Supervision and Curriculum Development.
