Boundary Sessions
Boundary Sessions include representatives from all IPS schools. The boundary sessions are divided into three groupings: K-2, 3-5, and secondary. Secondary will be divided into middle school and high school sessions for 2000/2001. Year 3 participants have completed a first and second year cycles and will begin a third year of participation. Year 2 participants have completed a first year cycle and will begin a second year of participation. There will be a Year 3 group starting in 2000/2001. The number of boundary sessions by year include:

  • 2000/2001 - 3 boundary sessions for Year 1, 2, and 3
  • 1999/2000 - 4 boundary sessions for first year participants and 3 boundary sessions for second year participants
  • 1998/1999 - 5 boundary sessions

Leadership Academy
Technology as a Tool - information and links to using technology to support leadership academy goals including listservs, distance learning, video, newsletters, websites, and more.

Small Work Groups - self selected groups that are taking the lead in facilitating and sharing needs and goals.

Peer Coaching - part of the summer 2000 training is taking a leadership role in integrating peer coaching into the IPS / NUA initiative model.

Leadership Academy in Action The webpage was designed by Hensley & Alvita Akiboh who both did all the writing and photos on 29 June 2000. Age 10 and 11, they took the photos with a Sony Mavica digital camera, used Photoshop to get the photos ready for the webpage, and used Adobe Go Live software to design the page. They did all the work on their own after a seven minute 'course' on how to use Go Live which is the same software many professional web designers use.

Newsletters - the Academy In Action newsletter is here. You can read it online and download a print version to share with others. The newsletter is created and published by members of the leadership academy.

Principal Seminars
There will be four half day principal sessions during the 2000/2001 school year. During the 1998/1999 there were regular full day principal workshops for the NUA/IPS initiative.

Site Visits
Site visits are a full day visit at the IPS schools by a NUA consultant. Visits include modeled lessons with students, observing classrooms, workshops, peer coaching, team building, and more. Site visits for 2000/2001 include:

  • elementary school - four site visits
  • middle school - six site visits
  • high school - five site visits

The 1999/2000 school year scheduled six site visits for each K-12 school.
