The Carnegie Corporation, the Gates Foundation and the Open Society Institute

The Carnegie Corporation, the Gates Foundation and the Open Society Institute announced with New York City and New Visions, competititve planning grants to create New Century High Schools in New York City. Districts 13, 16 and 17, in collaboration with the NUA, as the lead agency, will offer students graduating from middle schools a high school education through an innovative new partnership school that will link classroom learning with a network of services. The cooperative will include museums, colleges, business, family and youth development organizations. The planning grants from the partnerships will compete for a total of $30,000,000.

The National Urban Alliance for Effective Education (NUA) Takes Top Honors at TeleCon XVIII in the Best Direct Broadcast Satellite Production Category

Carnegie Corporation
The NUA and IPS were selected in a competitive process among 21 districts for a $250,000 Carnegie Corporation planning grant to improve high schools in Indianapolis. The collaboration between NUA & IPS is in competition with nine other districts selected for their potential for providing systemwide improvements. Five system-based partnerships are competing for $8,000,000 over five years. Award announcements will be made in the Fall of 2001.
